Scrapbook Saturday - Quick Quotes DB1236

Last Saturday I broke out my Club Q - November 2021 kit and worked on Blessed- DP1237. Today I worked on Family page kit - DP1236, I made some major changes -flipped paper sides, removed some elements, rotated page a layout, then added new elements

The original design:

 My Remix Design:

To start I cut the two background pages with a 1.5-inch border & the 5.5"x7.5" mats with a 1-inch. When going through the directions I noticed that two of the laser cut pieces were cut almost an inch bigger with a dove tail on both ends.  I just could not get the page to look right with the size that the large banners were in, and instead of trimming & trying to make both look identical I just did not use them.  Instead, I die cut 2 tags out of one of the gutted brown papers, flipped the back 2 layers to the other pattern, removed the layered columns.

I fussy cut the vellum quote around the printed frame and used a gutted rectangle to back it.  The quote just seemed to disappear on the patterned paper, I wanted it to pop.

Supplies not used and scraps from kits pages or punchouts:

I did not do any die cut from the smaller scraps that were in the kit.  I have 2 more altered kits & the bonus paper/ribbon pack that I can play with before my December kit arrives.

Sketch Saturday #690

I did another Sketch Saturday today.

I based this card off of a Double Wonder layout from Julie Davison.  Because I had 6x6 paper my cutting measurements are slightly different.

I cut a 1 1/8" of the 'cover' of the card and added .5" strip along the edge. I keep the 1" on the back edge. The bow and epoxy dots are in Stamps of Life -Cranberry.

I am still trying to use up the Holiday Wishes paper pad.  I WILL finish today...I hope. It will all depend on how well my Friday night goes.  We are taking a day off schooling, chores are basically done, and finally dinner is done, Enchilada Soup. Yum! Now to see what kinda crafting craziness we can get into tonight.

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge

Today I was going to play around with some Halloween items to make something for the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge....I ADORE that name.  I grabbed a Simple Stories "Happy Halloween" mini collection that I have had since the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo in 2019.  I was stuck as to what to do with it, the kit only has 6 double-sided pages and a 6x12 sticker sheet.  I did not want to waste any with going willy-nilly on a design.

Then this afternoon I watched a FB live with Noreen from Organized and Creative Mom.  She showed a 5-Step / 5 Minute layout that was absolutely wonderful.  That got my creative juices going.

Instead of doing the circle cut I used Stamps of Life - Fancy Pumpkin Fold-it base die. Then used the layering dies to cut out the pumpkin in a mustard yellow shimmer cardstock; a leaf (Sizzix # 663094 - Skeleton Leaves) cut from a scrap of ink blended cardstock.  I used just a single cut and trimmed to make 2 separate pieces.  The grass (Stamps of Life is also cut from the ink blended paper.  The rest of the paper is Neenah 65# paper from a starter pack.  The orange is 4" x 6" mat layered with the black cut at 3.75" x 5.75".  I popped up the bats and phrases along the photo mats.  I now have another base page in my scrapbook.

The rabbit hole

Hello y'all today I fell down a rabbit hole....

It all started because I found 3 extra packs of magnetic sheets that I put my dies on. THREE hours later I made a huge, Huge, HUGE! mess.  I did find a few sets of stamps, dies & hot foil plates I must have REALLY liked because I have multiples.

I could not work on anything that required me to think after today's adventure.  I grabbed die from Spellbinders called Kaleidoscope Card Creator and a pack on core'dinations 65# paper in Harvest.  Put on an audiobook and just started crafting.

The die was simple to do and the repetitive nature of running each set of layering dies through 4x in the colors made it somewhat relaxing. After making the card border, I used the waste to make some other bits that can layer on other things -tree buds, peacock feathers, candle flames, flower petals, etc.  Maybe tomorrow I can find the exact die I want and know I have somewhere in the craft room to make some fall-ish branches.

Scrapbook Saturday - Quick Quotes DP1237

Just looked at the calendar and realized that it was almost time for another Club Q from Quick Quotes to ship again.  I haven't even looked at last month's kit.  I opened the package, checked the packages, placed them in my Quick Quotes paper holder and completely forgot to go back and do them.  Today during our quiet time I worked on the kits. I try and do either a scrapbook layout or a scrap busting project on Saturdays.

I normally seem to alter the kits slightly to fit what I need.  I always try maximizing my paper to have very little waste.  I only found out about Quick Quotes during the Scrapbook Expo in 2019 after taking a class. Since then, the Craftlings and I have adored the easy but beautiful kits that they have.  The page kits from November are DP 1236 Family & DP 1237 Blessed and the altered kits are CQ178 Christmas Card Bundle and KICK 178 Gift Card Holder.

With all the page kits I 'gut' my large sections as long as it will not effect the final layout.  I typically use a .75 to 1.5 - inch to make my borders; it all depends on how I feel about the final design on how much structure that I need.  With smaller photo mats I will use some smaller dies to make tags, banners, alphabets, etc. in the center.

The original layout:

My remixed layout:

My remix I did not use the 9.25 circle. I changed the flower clusters to make it look more flowerpot-ish verses the wreath look.  I also shifted the large photo mat over to give myself a journaling spot on the right page.

My leftovers & made elements

I made banners & ribbons from the small photo mats using and Stamps of Life Set - HighlighterPlanner (retiring soon) & the MiniDoubleBanner die. The larger photo mats I gutted to use later, one of them I used to make a photo mat so I did not have to waste from the other page from the kit.

Scraps from cutting and punchouts:

Once I complete the entire kit I will sit down and play with everything leftover with the bonus pack that comes with the kit.  I can normally get a couple extra layouts as well as a few cards & tags.

R is for Red - Alphabet Challenge

After seeing the comment from Inkami about the challenge page Paper Playful I decided that I would see what crafting mischief I could get myself into on the Friday night.  After about an hour just browsing through the challenges listed today, I went with the first one.  Could have given myself more crafting time. Oh well.

So...

On the side of my work area, I am trying to work through my many, many 6x6 paper pads. Once I saw the Alphabet Challenge Blog- R is for Red challenge, I knew I had the perfect paper in that stack. The paper is from Stamps of Life - Holiday Wishes paper pad - from the September 2021 card kit.  The page is just red bows about .5-inch square in alternating rows of two red colors - so hard to get it on camera.

The supplies that I used are:
    * A2 Card Base
    * Paper from Holiday Wishes - Bow Paper and Holly Cluster
    * Cranberry Cardstock - Stamps of Life
    * Gold Shimmer Paper - Open Stock
    * Merry Christmas 2020 Die - Stamps of Life

Sketch Saturday #689

So, this whole blog is to get me motivated to use all the pretty papers, fibers, paints & fabrics that I have collected *cough* hoarded *cough* over the last 25+ years.  So, I decided to do as many challenges as possible that I could in my goal of working through my "collection".  My first challenge is Sketch Saturday #689. I have used a few of their sketches in the past but never have joined in the actual challenge.

My card

    * The Stamps of Life - Chocolates2Stamp and coordinating dies

    * Faber-Castell Goldfaber colored pencils

Chocolates2Stamp & Die Set - December 2021

I am a Gold Club Member for The Stamps of Life and this month's Die Hard kit was Chocolates2Stamp with the coordinating dies. This kit is absolutely perfect for a chocoholic.

I stamped in Archival ink in and colored the chocolates using Faber-Castell Goldfaber colored pencils.  In color numbers 109, 121, 125, 126, 183, 199, 250, & 283. I then added Stamps of Life 3-D inks on the top of the chocolates in black, white, gold glitter, candy, pool, ocean, and banana.

Those pieces made me want chocolate so bad, the Craftlings kept coming in an saying I want something "sweet and melty" - the little stinkers.

Welcome

 Welcome

Let me introduce myself.  I am crafting addict.  I love doing just about all types of crafts, from papercrafts to wood art.

I am a stay-at-home mom that is passing along my crafting craziness.  I have two "Craftlings" both who's crafting y'all may see from time to time.  They both adore getting lost in the craft room.

I started this just so I/we could do different challenges as well as have a place to have a community to share my crafting craziness.  The last almost 2 years of missing expos, crops, classes, and retreats have made me realize how much I enjoyed the comradery and have missed it.

So welcome again and let's see where this next year takes us.

Jackie

Back at it again... I hope.

I am back... I hope I am back at it again. Life just seems to get in the way sometimes.  I did become a Creative Memories Advisor in the ho...
